20251230 - Day 7 - Chongqing 重庆 - Mount Baoding 宝顶山
Located in the Dazu District approximately 105 kilometers west of downtown Chongqing, Baodingshan (Mount Baoding) is the most prominent site of the UNESCO World Heritage Dazu Rock Carvings.
Key facts about the site for 2025 include:
- Historical Significance: Most carvings were executed between 1174 and 1252 during the Southern Song Dynasty under the direction of the monk Zhao Zhifeng. The site took over 70 years to complete and is considered a masterpiece of Esoteric Buddhism (Tantrism).

Hongya Cave is an iconic 11-story architectural complex of traditional Bayu-style stilted buildings in Chongqing, China, known for its stunning night views when the entire structure is illuminated with golden lights. It is located in the Yuzhong District along the Jialing River, and features a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, and a food court.
